Provide a highly professional level of administrative support and assistance to the Executive Dean at ECU’s state-of-the-art Joondalup and Mount Lawley campus.

Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a large, multi-campus institution serving communities nationally and internationally. The University has two metropolitan campuses at Mount Lawley and Joondalup, and serves Western Australia’s South-West Region from a campus at Bunbury, 200 km south of Perth.

About the opportunity
This full time, ongoing position for an Executive Assistant (or Executive Officer as the role is known internally) attracts remuneration of $88,973 to $95,993  pa (HEW 6) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.

The School of Education is one of the largest providers of Initial Teacher Education in Australia with more than 5,000 students. The School offers a broad range of programs including Early Childhood Studies, Primary, Secondary and Postgraduate Education.

The School is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly organised and professional Executive Officer with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity for initiative and problem solving.

The successful candidate will provide highly professional, comprehensive, and confidential executive and administrative support and assistance to the School of Education’s Executive Dean.

The Executive Officer also undertakes special projects as requested, including but not limited to, research and analysis, communications with stakeholders, progress monitoring and preparation of reports.

Key Criteria
To be successful you will have experience in a similar executive and administrative support role and will demonstrate:

  • An enthusiastic, professional approach
  • A thorough understanding of, and excellence in best practices, systems (including technological) and procedures of providing executive level support
  • Advanced minute taking and experience co-ordinating Executive level meetings;
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and co-ordinate multiple projects, in compliance with ECU and external policies, processes and standards;
  • The ability to work in a confidential environment and to exercise sound judgement and operate with tact and discretion;
  • Problem-solving and analytical capabilities, demonstrating the ability to manage and prioritise enquiries, and identify appropriate escalation points;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, working collaboratively with others and ensuring the smooth-running of daily operations;
  • Ability to research and draft correspondence including a wide variety of communications as required by a senior Executive
  • Proficient (intermediate to advanced) in the use of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Previous experience administering internal sharepoint/intranet site.
