About Us

This position will support the development and embedding of research excellence and impact activities and will seek to maximise researcher engagement with non-academic audiences and research users, in order to create opportunities for excellence and impact as defined in the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) and Engagement and Impact (EI) assessments.
As part of the wider Research Excellence team this role will facilitate the implementation of the University’s research excellence & impact plans identified in the Research Strategy and provide advice and practical support to a variety of stakeholders within the University. The Research Excellence team work closely with colleagues in the faculties, schools, institutes/centres and University Marketing to support research quality initiatives at Curtin. This role will act as the point of contact for Excellence and Impact, working with academics to identify and extend their opportunities and impact.
In this role you will:

  • Support the ADVC Research Excellence and Research Excellence Lead in developing and implementing excellence and impact strategies.
  • Provide support for researchers through training and staff development activities, such as developing guidance notes, web-based resources and/or delivering workshops on the identification, communication and delivery of impact – provide a central source of evidence based advice.
  • Working with systems and analytics staff, develop processes to capture data and evidence about impacts of research.
  • Collate information for ERA and EI and provide support and guidance to ensure submission requirements are followed and met, and evidence of excellence and impact are retrieved.
  • Review current and emerging trends on excellence and impact across the University sector and contribute and advise on best practise and Curtin’s response to help embed an understanding of excellence and impact and the potential routes to delivering impact from the University’s research and enterprise activities.
We are looking for someone with:
  • A strong understanding of the assessment of research performance in the higher education sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to liaise effectively with and influence a wide range of people at all levels both within and external to the organization and to build industry partnerships and networks.
  • Ability to think strategically, exercise critical judgment and identify new ways to support business strategy
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and information to provide evidence of the impact of research.
  • High level written and presentation skills with demonstrated experience in developing proposals and professional reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a large multifunctional team environment.
