Overview
We are now accepting expressions of interest from suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated professionals for the casual position of Examination Invigilator based across our Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses.

Successful applicants will join a casual pool of examination invigilators who may be rostered for each examination period.

The Role
As an Examination Invigilator, you will be working within a large team to:

  • verify student identities.
  • distribute examination materials.
  • collect and validate completed examination papers, and
  • abide by established procedures for monitoring students sitting an examination, to ensure there is no academic misconduct. 

There may also be the opportunity to work within the Examination Distribution Room, assisting with the reconciliation, collation, and delivery of examination materials. 

Examination Invigilators may be required for the upcoming Semester 1, 2024 exams dates:

  • Standard Exams: Tuesday, 4 – Friday, 14 June 2024
  • Deferred Exams: Monday, 1 – Friday, 5 July 2024 

The time required for each exam session will fall somewhere between 3 and 5 hours, and there will be a limit of 2 exam sessions per day that can take place anytime between 7:30am and 10:00pm.

We are looking for candidates who can work for 4 to 5 days during the examination periods and are available to work at both Perth Metropolitan campuses (Joondalup and Mount Lawley).  Invigilators will, however, remain at the same campus if they are employed across multiple sessions on the one day.

Key Criteria
Successful candidates will:

  • Possess a high level of English proficiency and the ability to communicate with individuals and groups.
  • Have good problem-solving abilities.
  • Maintain a high attention to detail with the ability to remain focused for an extended period.
  • Work well as a member of a team and as an individual.
  • Have strong organisational skills. 

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage, and Personal Excellence. 

It is important to note that this work requires standing for lengthy periods of time and walking through narrow aisles approximately 60cm in width.  Physical labour may be necessary, including:

  • Extensive lifting of exam papers of up to 10kg.
  • Walking distances of up to 1000m within 15 minutes and negotiating steps or uneven terrain carrying boxes of examination materials.

Benefits & Remuneration

This casual position attracts remuneration of $35.38 per hour.
