About the opportunity

The Faculty of Medicine and (FMH) are seeking an Events Officer to join its Internal Communications and Engagement team. Alongside a supportive team, the position is responsible for the planning, administration and delivery of a range of events, prize giving and functions in the faculty.

The position applies events management experience and skills to design and deliver events to a high professional standard for a variety of audiences. Under the general guidance of the Engagement Manager, you are expected to exercise significant initiative and judgement in planning work activity and resolving problems, applying knowledge and experience of event management good practice.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • plan and deliver faculty events and functions in consultation with the Events Coordinator and Engagement Manager
  • manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously
  • produce and disseminate event invitations, slides and other promotional material adhering to University brand guidelines
  • manage registrations and on-the-day logistics
  • develop and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities.

Occasional travel will be required to the Faculty’s Northern Sydney and Western Sydney Precinct locations depending on events needs.

About you

  • excellent organisation and time management skills
  • demonstrated high level communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships and engage with a broad range of stakeholders
  • sound experience working with conference, events and/or education programs
  • highly developed administrative, Zoom and Office 365 skills, with experience using audio visual equipment
  • experience in a tertiary organisation, with working knowledge of academic institutions, structures and the higher education sector (desirable)

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
