$100,238 – $110,971 pa pro-rata
Reporting to:
Dean (Education)
Under broad direction the Heaslip Fellow will focus on the development of educational evaluation essential for socially accountable and accredited health professional courses. The Heaslip Fellow will be located in the College of Medicine and Public Health and work closely with the Dean (Education), the Director of the Medical Program and the Education Lead (rural).

Key Position Responsibilities

The Heaslip Fellow is accountable for:

  • Conducting a project to review the effectiveness of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in preparing graduates for future professional practice

  • Evaluating how we equip our educators to create quality learning environments for our medical students

  • Building relationships and liaising with staff, across Flinders Rural and Remote sites, responsible for coordinating evaluation in the MD.

  • Reviewing the current approach to evaluation of the medical program and making recommendations for future approaches.

  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders, including employers and student groups.  

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • Completion or near completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification and/or equivalent accreditation and standing maybe an acceptable alternative;

  • Demonstrated evidence of educational experience (for example as a teacher, curriculum developer, educational researcher or evaluator);

  • Evidence of educational research or evaluation skills;

  • Proven high level communication skills including interpersonal, professional and academic communications;

  • Proven ability to utilise computer-based work and communication tools such as the Microsoft Office suite or equivalent.

  • Evidence of understanding of social accountability as it applies to health professional education;

  • Familiarity with the health professional education context, specifically contemporary approaches to curriculum delivery and assessment

  • Relevant experience of working in higher education environment (desired).
