Overview
We are seeking an Ethics Support Officer to join our Research Ethics Team, where they will provide customer service to the applicants for research ethics approval and to assist in the administration of the University’s Ethics Committees.  The Ethics Support Officer provides support to current and future researchers and the opportunity to play a part in enabling world-class research. 

Responsibilities include the provision of expert advice to research staff and students and the effective management of correspondence and official records relating to the ethical review of research protocols. The position operates within a governance framework with established guidelines, policies and processes. 

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person who is flexible and capable of learning the various computer systems/applications and databases that are critical to this role. The successful person will be able to use their initiative, make sound judgements and operate independently and will often need to manage confidential issues in a sensitive manner.  Strong administrative skills, experience in agenda preparation and minute taking and the ability to manage a number of competing priorities and deadlines are essential. An awareness of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research would be an advantage.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience in an administration role in higher education, government or the research sector
  • The ability to learn and use various computer systems
  • An awareness of the codes and standards that underpin research ethics
  • Strong communication skills

Benefits & Remuneration
This full time, ongoing position attracts remuneration of $73,257pa - $81,404pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
