  • Part-time (0.8), 12 month fixed-term appointment
  • Salary range: Level 5: $72,531 - $80,391 p.a. pro-rata plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The Office of Research provides professional and expert support services to facilitate research excellence and knowledge transfer at the University. It is also at the forefront in executing the University’s research strategy.

The Research Ethics and Compliance team in the Research Operations office is responsible for ensuring that the University upholds the highest ethical standards in conducting research that involves animals, human research, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs), as well as ensuring compliance with defence trade controls, autonomous sanctions and foreign interference.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under general direction, provide high level administrative and secretarial support to the Research Ethics and Compliance team and associated Ethics Committees and take a responsible role in the establishment, maintenance and improvement of the systems and policies and procedures to ensure its efficient operation.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in a life science degree or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant administrative experience at an appropriate level
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, electronic filing, online database use, spread-sheets, internet and email
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team
  • Accurate data entry and database maintenance with attention to detail

About you

Good knowledge of the regulatory framework governing ethical research is desirable.
