About the Role

Reporting directly to the EOS Chair in Laser Physics, this position will join the Laser Physics and Photonics Devices labs (LPPDL) research team at UniSA and make original contributions to experimental laser physics leading to new concepts, photonic manufacturing processes, and laser prototypes. UniSA has strategically partnered with EOS to undertake advanced research in next generation solid-state, fibre lasers, and cutting-edge optical fabrication. They will also facilitate inter-disciplinary collaborations and supervise postgraduate students.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality laser research consistent with EOS guidance
  • Design and undertake experimental work in laser physics topics aligned with in-house and collaborators capability
  • Independently, communicate research outcomes in both verbal and written form
  • Maintain a record of independent research that results in high-quality publications
  • Contribute to grant writing activities
  • Ensure delivery of project’s research milestones, objectives and work programs are met

Essential Skills and Experience

We are seeking highly motivated and productive Postdoctoral Researchers eager to apply their skills to achieving research outputs contributing to advancing the state-of-the-art in solid-state, fibre lasers, and non-linear frequency conversion. Beyond research duties, the successful Postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity for involvement in graduate student research, transitioning research through to product development, and collaborating with EOS scientists and engineers in broad laser application areas.

Applicants must have a strong background in laser physics and optics with research experience in waveguide, solid-state, or fibre lasers, and excellent experimental skills. You will be expected to work as part of a research team and establish a good working relationship with EOS. You will have a PhD in Physics/Engineering. A hands-on, and ‘can-do’ approach is desirable along with a keen interest in combining both fundamental research, proof-of-principle prototype development, and pre-production considerations.
