  • This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 3 years with salary in the range $77,396 - $86,029, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

About This Opportunity 

The Engineering Officer provides technical support and subject matter expertise in support of UQ Materials Performance consulting and research activities at all stages of project life cycle from the client enquiry to deliverables. 

Coordinate aspects of or perform entire projects (where qualified) within the materials engineering and science, consulting and research service range including:  

  • Receive and process inquiries from external clients, ensuring the extraction of relevant information to align with project objectives.

  • Assist in scoping consulting and research projects, drafting contractual documentation under senior staff supervision.

  • Coordinate resources and deliverables to meet project obligations, adhering to professional ethics and conduct.

  • Contribute to experiments and investigations, including conducting complex tasks, data collection, analysis, and maintenance of scientific instrumentation.

  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.


About You  

The role provides a range of technical and specialist skills and services, which support and enable consulting activities. This role involves learning a range of specialist skills to support the consultancy team, eventually growing into a consultant in your own right. 

The successful applicant is expected to have the following;

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science (chemical, materials, mechanical, etc.), or equivalent experience/education.

  • Proficient practical research skills and experience in relevant methodologies.

  • Competence in using diverse laboratory equipment related to chemical and/or materials engineering.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and work independently.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
