  • Newly created position with a fantastic opportunity for an individual to lead First Nations engagement and inclusion in a research organisation supporting transformation change in mine closure
  • Full time and 3-year fixed term appointment 
  • Salary range: Level 9 $ $119,390 - $126,335 p.a. plus 17% superannuation  

The Cooperative Research Centre for Transformations in Mining Economies (CRC TiME) is an independent, not for profit, research organisation formed to support transformational change  enabling regions and communities to transition to a prosperous and sustainable post-mine future.

To support its purpose, CRC TiME brings together a unique partnership of over 70 leading mining companies, mining equipment, technology and services (METS) companies, regional and community development organisations, governments and research partners.

CRC-TiME is co-hosted by the University of Western Australia and the University of Queensland with offices in Perth and Brisbane and has ‘regional hubs’ in key mining areas. CRC TiME acknowledges the Traditional Owners and their custodianship of the lands on which we work.

CRC TiME is committed to First Nations Inclusion and in late 2021 the Board endorsed 10 key principles as part of the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan.

About the opportunity  

As part of the management team, you will provide guidance, advice and direction to the CRC team to integrate First Nations priorities and perspectives across the organisation’s research, partnership and engagement activities.

You will also engage with First Nations people, communities and organisations to facilitate engagement, co-design and information-sharing, with the aim of ensuring prosperous and sustainable post-mine futures. This may include working with First Nations people, communities and organisations to apply research findings to support their aspirations and priorities.

This includes supporting communities to bring their knowledge, experience and skills into the co-design of projects. You will also represent the CRC at various events, forums and engagements to promote the CRC and share lessons, findings and recommendations from its research and activities. 

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial and extensive relevant experience at an appropriate level
  • Experience and knowledge of the resource sector
  • Knowledge of contemporary issues affecting First Nations people, organisations and communities relating to mine closure and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to convey information and build rapport with all levels of staff within a diverse work environment
  • Ability to influence long term planning and key strategic direction
