Salary Package: From $97,783 - $106,018 (HEW Level 7), plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading

THE ROLE

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) [DVCRO] is currently seeking a suitably qualified individual to join them on a fixed-term basis as an Early and Mid-Career Researcher (EMCR) Programs Coordinator. This position sits within the portfolio of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Performance and Development (PVC RP&D), Professor Amanda Barnier .

The EMCR Programs Coordinator will design and deliver workshops, events and online learning resources; develop and coordinate communications via a variety of mediums to internal stakeholders; implement recommendations from the ECR Network Advisory Group; evaluate, review and revise researcher development programs and initiatives; and contribute to the identification and implementation of opportunities to enhance institutional support for early and mid-career researchers.

The Coordinator will work closely with the PVC (RP&D) and the Project Manager (RP&D) to plan and provide high quality researcher development programming that contributes to the career development of individuals, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Research Strategy and the University Operating Plan.

The Coordinator will be located within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and will function as an integral member of this team. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a researcher with experience in learning and development who is seeking a change in career direction, or a professional staff member with experience in research management or learning and development.

About You

You will have sound experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of learning programs and resources, preferably within an academic research environment, and working knowledge of current issues impacting researchers at different career stages.

You will have demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, events and projects and possess excellent time management capabilities. You will operate both autonomously and within the team environment, applying sound judgement and contributing your knowledge and expertise in support of PVC (RP&D) initiatives.

You will have the ability to develop written communications across a variety of mediums and for different audiences and possess excellent verbal communication skills. Your ability to engage with stakeholders across the University will be one of the key elements to your success in this role, within a quality-focused and professional team environment. 

You will have a comprehensive understanding of MS Office, internet, email, presentation software and online delivery platforms such as Zoom webinar, and content management systems.

About Us

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) (DVCR) is responsible for the development and strategic enhancement of Macquarie University's research, research training, and innovation profile as well as the creation, support and advancement of local, national and international research collaborations and partnerships. 

The DVCRO is the direct support office for the DVCR and ensures the provision of timely and accurate high-level strategic initiatives relating to research at Macquarie. The DVCRO also manages day-to-day activities relating to the DVCR and provides advice to other areas of the University on matters concerning research.

The PVC RP&D provides strategic leadership on all matters relating to research performance and development. The PVC RP&D is responsible for researcher development via the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network, Mid-Career Researcher (MCR) Development, and Leadership Development programs.

This role also leads major strategic programs and initiatives including the national assessments for Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) and Engagement and Impact (EI), research data and quality assurance, and oversees Macquarie University’s Research Centres.

  • A relevant degree and/or experience in the field of research / research management and / or learning and development.

  • Experience in workplace learning program development principles and practices, including scoping, planning, delivering and evaluating programs.

  • Working knowledge of online learning design, development and delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects alongside excellent time management capabilities.

  • Ability to communicate in a variety of mediums to a range of stakeholders to build engagement, including exceptional writing skills.

  • Understanding of current issues impacting researchers at different career stages, preferably developed via working as an academic researcher or in a research management environment.

  • Administrative experience and strong computer skills including MS Office, internet, email, presentation software, online presentation delivery platforms, and content management systems.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of how the DVC Research relates to other areas of the University.

  • Completion of a Higher Degree by Research and experience working as an academic researcher.
