The Email and Automation Specialist is responsible for delivering, executing and optimising automated communications to engage prospective international students reporting to the Manager, International Journeys within Deakin’s Marketing & Recruitment Division. The role delivers acquisition outcomes by executing Deakin’s digital strategy and leveraging Deakin’s enterprise marketing automation platform. Uplifts Deakin’s outbound email marketing program targeting prospective international students including, deploying the road map for A/B testing, assisting with tactical campaign activity, database hygiene and campaign reporting. Uses data and analytics to inform new opportunities and actionable business decisions. This role works within a team of marketing technology specialists and Producers to drive continuous improvement of data driven marketing techniques across the Marketing & Recruitment Division to increase  international student applications to Deakin.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Draw on a diverse range of people, groups and resources to identify new or improved opportunities, processes and ways of doing things to ensure Deakin’s enterprise marketing automation platform has the data, capability and processes required to enhance international nurturing journeys)
  • Establish and demonstrate a high level of learning, energy and commitment and maintain personal integrity and make decisions consistent with University values
  • Investigate and probe for the facts and identify relevant solutions and selects the most appropriate from the range of alternatives
  • Seek feedback on improvement opportunities from a diverse range of key stakeholders and implement change through appropriate channels and overcomes obstacles to change, particularly between international recruitment activities and marketing programs
  • Plan and prioritises work and critical activities appropriately and recognises barriers to achieving outcomes, finds effective ways to deal with them and evaluates progress and performance of marketing campaigns against targets and benchmarks
  • Plan and deliver all aspects of the scheduling and nurturing communications programs to deliver sustainable outcomes, value within constraints of time, cost, resourcing and quality
  • Understand and integrate perspectives held within different areas of the University and puts plans in place to build collaboration, mutually beneficial ethical alliances and develop common goals
  • Provide ethical advice to clients that address underlying issues, promoting value-adding insights and recommendations to email communication initiatives
  • Act as a coach and work with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance, in alignment with Deakin’s code of conduct and core university strategies and policies that promote a safe, sustainable and productive working environment.  

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary degree in marketing, multimedia, information technology, communications, or other related areas, and specialist knowledge in tactical digital campaign and email program management. Or combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience working with email communications and email marketing program tools
  • Basic HTML & CSS knowledge
  • Experience working with customer data, knowledge of data architecture/models & safe handling of data
  • Working knowledge of CRM will be highly regarded (Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Certification or equivalent experience in Salesforce CRM
  • Ability to talk knowledgeably about marketing automation and lead capture and its implications on business outcomes
  • Experience in the application of digital technologies in a marketing environment and digital marketing campaigns
