About the position
The Pathways Program is a regional initiative that aims to address the disparity in higher education participation and attainment between regional and metropolitan areas. It focuses on increasing educational engagement among senior secondary school students by providing them with a comprehensive framework of academic capacity-building sessions, literacy tutoring and resources, pastoral strategies, and university immersions.
Duties will include:
- Work with Head of Campus, schools, and La Trobe University colleagues to adapt and implement the workshops and resources for the program.
- Develop, organise, and facilitate workshops for students from fourth term year 11 to entry and commencement at university, focusing on the areas of Career Development, Study Skills and Wellbeing, in particular.
- Deliver online workshops to remote participating schools.
- Recruit, train and manage Student Mentors to co-facilitate workshops.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
- An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 3 years relevant experience in the education sector; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to present in group settings within secondary schools from regional low socio-economic areas.
- Ability to assist in the development of activities and resources that improve educational skills, pastoral awareness, and university preparedness for participating senior school students.
- Demonstrated understanding of regional communities and educational issues impacting the Shepparton area.
