Crawford School of Public Policy is a School within CAP and is Australia’s premier public policy school, with recognised world-class expertise and experience in economics, political science, environmental management and development, and on key Asia-Pacific countries, especially China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as Australia.

The National Security College (NSC), which is part of the Crawford School, is a joint venture between the Australian Government and the Australian National University (ANU). NSC conducts programs relating to national security policy including executive and professional development courses, postgraduate education, research and outreach. 

The vision for the NSC is to build, through its core activities and the attributes of its graduates, enhanced strategic understanding and critical thinking about Australia’s national security. The NSC builds this enhanced understanding in ways that promote collaborative leadership within government as well as trusted networks of cooperation between areas of expertise within and outside government.

The Opportunity

We have several opportunities for creative, enthusiastic individuals to join the National Security College. The Educational Design Manager – Cyber / Futures Adviser is responsible for the design, preparation and delivery of executive and professional education courses, including the development of course materials.

In these roles you will work with stakeholders across industry, government and the wider educational community, to understand their needs and design programs that result in a capability improvement for target audiences. You will lead and coordinate the creation, design and delivery of executive education courses and workshops in the areas of either Cyber or Futures. 

Roles require an ability to identify subject matter experts and senior practitioners as potential contributors across all curricula of the suite of courses.

These positions are available as full-time, continuing (contingent funded) appointments.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will require extensive experience in either Cyber Policy or Futures analysis and including structured analytical techniques.  You will have high calibre communication and engagement skills, with extensive education design, development and delivery experience.  

You will have effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to present with confidence, analytical skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines and problem solve effectively. General knowledge of the education sector and the public service is desirable.

A current security clearance is desirable, but not essential, however it is a requirement that you can obtain an Australian Government security clearance.
