  • Opportunity to provide a broad range of administrative and operational support to Academic and Teaching staff to meet the educational support needs of the School

  • Base Salary $91k - $98k p.a. (HEO6) + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Education Support Officer to provide administrative support to the School’s academic and teaching staff. Reporting to the Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be working with the team to provide the administrative support to the academic staff and students.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide education administrative support to the School’s academic and teaching staff, along with the School’s partners in the delivery of teaching programs

  • manage the educational reporting and compliance requirements for the School

  • provide School-specific administration services and support to the School’s education committee

  • work within a supportive team environment

  • undertake ad-hoc projects, tasks, and other activities.

The Sydney School of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney is ranked first in the Southern hemisphere and 16th in the world among veterinary faculties (QS rankings 2021). Regarding research, the faculty is the highest ranked veterinary school in Australia (ERA 5/5). The School of Veterinary Science educates students and conducts research in veterinary and related sciences.

About you

  • a tertiary qualification with some relevant work experience; and/or equivalent combination of relevant experience and training

  • experience delivering education programs, preferably in a tertiary education environment

  • effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) together with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, along with the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods

  • experience working in a tertiary environment with working knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, and together with sound understanding of timetabling/rostering of student activities

  • extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment

  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to changes

  • well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills.
