The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Medicine. 

About the role:

The role will work with the Associate Head of School Learning and Teaching to support teaching teams in UG and/or PG programs to deliver high quality assessments and evaluations. The position will work closely with academics to coordinate design and delivery of online assessments and support academics to achieve best practice in assessment, evaluation and feedback strategies. The position will initiate, design and conduct productive, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs in their discipline area. The Education-focused Academic may lead and participate in research activities and is expected to engage collaboratively to develop novel research outcomes.

This position is suited to a person with an excellent record and passion for scholarly learning and teaching and a keen interest in exploring and building on new areas of research and researcher development to have real-world impact.

As an Education-focused Academic you will:

  • Apply knowledge of best practice to inform design, implementation, interpretation/reporting and quality improvement of assessment.
  • Work collaboratively with unit teaching teams and professional staff in the school to develop and implement innovative and effective assessment practices utilising digital technologies.
  • Contribute to monitoring and adaptation of assessment practices to improve learning outcomes through provision of timely advice and analysis, including high-quality feedback to learners.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Indigenous Health assessment activities, in consultation with the School’s Indigenous Health Professional Education team.
  • Maintain the school’s digital assessment platforms and provide training and support to enable capacity building across programs.                                                                                                           

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline including Psychology or Education and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Experience in designing, implementing, reporting and quality improvement of assessment in the tertiary education environment – with a focus on the provision of high-quality feedback to learners.
  • Capacity to contribute to leadership with respect to assessment design, analysis and evaluation.
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
