Salary: Level A – $80,258 – 108,906 p.a. p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role

The Social Planning Education Fellow is a dedicated specialist in education within the field, focused on enhancing student learning experiences and outcomes. Working closely with senior academic staff, this role involves developing teaching expertise, both individually and collaboratively, while also engaging in continuous professional development. With a key emphasis on curriculum development and alignment with industry standards, the Fellow significantly contributes to advancing the educational objectives of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the Melbourne School of Design, particularly in the Bachelor of Design and Master of Urban Planning programs, ensuring a dynamic and relevant learning environment for students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute actively to a mix of subject co-coordination, delivery and tutoring for subjects aligned with the specialization across the Bachelor of Design (planning pathway) and the Master of Urban Planning program, ensuring a coherent and integrated learning experience. 
  • Supervise Bachelor of Design Honors Theses and MUP Minor Theses. 
  • Contribution to scholarly presentations and publications or other relevant outputs. 

Who We Are Looking For

You will ideally possess a demonstrated ability to positively contribute to student education and support, both independently and collaboratively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the capability to effectively manage tasks autonomously and within a team setting, ensuring timely task completion and a cohesive working environment.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in the relevant discipline or near completion, or a Masters in Urban Planning with relevant experience in practice (preferably with an international comparative dimension). 
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and ability to prepare and deliver University teaching and learning materials and activities, face to face (and online where relevant) using a range of teaching methods across various class sizes

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
