About the Role

The Faculty of Business and Economics has an opening for multiple Tutor positions. This is an Academic Teaching Specialist role to support the delivery and implementation of CMCE10001 Sustainable Commerce. The appointee will be responsible for conducting high-quality tutorials, supporting the teaching team in lectures, assist in the development of teaching materials, and play an active role in the collegial and intellectual life of the teaching team.

Tutors are a critical part of the teaching team in the Faculty of Business and Economics. Tutors have weekly face to face or online tutorials with students and contribute significantly to students’ academic success and satisfaction with university life.

Available contract options are:

  • 18-week period - Semester 1
  • 12-month period - Semesters 1 and 2

Tutors must be available for the official University teaching and exam periods and may be required to attend teaching team meetings in the week before semester commences. Tutors will be required to contribute to non-teaching activities related to the subject CMCE10001 during the non-teaching periods.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in co-taught lectures and engage with students in a meaningful intellectual manner to nurture their learning and promote intellectual curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Deliver tutorials with a particular focus on active and authentic learning.
  • Mark assessments and, where required, enter results into LMS following University and Faculty guidelines pertaining to marking integrity and security.
  • Participate in the ongoing evaluation and development of the subject as required.

About You

You will have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively and co-operatively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. You will have experience in delivering higher education content to students using a blended approach to learning and teaching, assessment, and supporting student engagement. You will have a strong understanding of current practices in business and the ability to apply this understanding to issues in sustainable commerce, drawing on Accounting, Actuarial, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, or other relevant disciplinary knowledge/industry experience.

You will also have:

  • Enrolment in, or completion of, honours or postgraduate degree, or equivalent industry experience in relevant fields.
  • Ability to assist in developing learning and teaching resources.
  • Strong presentation skills and the capacity to conduct tutorials.
  • Demonstrated concern for student learning and welfare.
