  • Can be based at La Trobe University’s Melbourne (Bundoora) or Victorian regional campuses.
  • HE08 – TRP $118,289 - $135,268 inclusive of 17% superannuation 

About the position

Following the transformation program structured as part of the University’s revised strategy in 2020 as a response to COVID-19, the Service and Strategic Initiatives Division now looks to partner with business units across the University to identify, deliver and embed end-to-end operational excellence. The division uses a lateral and inquisitive approach as well as a process and data driven mindset viewed across inter-connected streams and portfolios, to deliver and champion service excellence across the university.

The Discovery Analyst ensures that for each stream of work in the Service and Strategic Initiatives Division, the business needs and benefits are defined, business requirements are appropriately captured, and the project is effectively engaging with the relevant business areas to identify and achieve successful business outcomes.

The successful appointee will report to the Program Manager, Service and Strategic Initiatives and is expected to possess exceptional management and organizational abilities with a proficiency in partnering with stakeholders and supporting initiatives from conception to implementation.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • A degree with substantial extension of the theories and principles, learned through experience; or a range of management experience; or postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge or management or policy expertise to bring together diverse and sometimes conflicting information to solve new or one-off problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess business requirements and undertake the analysis needed to design complete and effective solutions based on business needs.
  • Ability to be responsible for program/process development and implementation.
  • Ability to develop innovative methodologies or take a leading role in the application of proven techniques involving considerable theoretical and technical sophistication.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve stated outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to form a detailed knowledge of academic and administrative policies and the interrelationships between a range of policies and activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and influencing senior management.
  • Experience developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence, and build relationships.
