Flinders Rural and Remote Health SA

Flinders University Rural and Remote Health SA (FRRHSA) facilitates high quality multidisciplinary health education and research in our State's regional areas.

We have a strong national and international reputation for providing community-engaged inter-professional training for medical, nursing, and allied health students. This includes the Doctor of Medicine Rural Stream (MDRS), the interprofessional Allied Health Expansion  program and University Department of Rural Health activities under the Rural Health mMultidisciplinary rural clinical placementsTraining (RHMT) grant. Our research focusses on the health communities theme within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI).

Through this practice, we bring new and exciting opportunities to actively engage and work with rural communities.

About the Role

In this role you will act as a key member of the leadership team in the Discipline of Rural and Remote Health, College of Medicine and Public Health. You will provide strategic leadership for the nursing and allied health  workforce education pipeline in rural South Australia including:

  • A focus on attracting rural origin and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to rural and remote practice
  • the development and implementation of allied health and nursing education specific to recruiting and retaining a nursing and allied health workforce, across the continuum of learning including the implementation of entry-to-practice education  
  • broadening the scope of work integrated learning (placements)
  • initiating professional development opportunities for rural health professional workforce including cultural safety education and training
  • post graduate education and training and achieving the work integrated learning (placements)
  • course content deliverables of the Rural Health Multi-Disciplinary Training (RHMT) program.


You will be actively involved in community engagement, developing partnership opportunities, and promoting activities that aim to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Health consistent with the Rural and Remote Health Strategy 2020 and facilitate a culture of academic excellence and positive workplace values and culture.
 

Please note, this position may be appointed at Academic Level C or Academic Level D dependent upon experience.
 

About You

You will achieve high quality teaching, scholarship, and community service outcomes by working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including Dean and Deputy Deans Rural and Remote Health, the Deans of Education and Teaching Program Directors in the relevant Flinders Colleges, Director Poche SA+NT and fellow members of the Rural and Remote Health Leadership team. You will consult, network, and develop relationships with staff, students and external bodies and use your high-level interpersonal skills to collaborate with local and national stakeholders.

You will demonstrate strategic, organisational and management skills and an ability to translate strategic and program objectives into operational plans with high performance outcomes.

Through your excellent record of academic achievement, you will demonstrate a track record of success consistent with the University’s vision and expectations and the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) framework.
