Your new role
Are you a world-class Level E academic, sector leader, or clinician with a passion for understanding and responding to alcohol and other drugs (AOD) use and related harms? The National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to fill the role of Director.
You will lead a national institute and develop cutting-edge AOD research programs that make a difference through innovative contributions to the field, valued by policy makers, practitioners, and communities in Australia and internationally.
With a balance of formal qualifications and practical experience, you will provide leadership and foster excellence in research initiatives aimed at reducing harmful alcohol and drug use and minimizing the adverse effects of licit and illicit drug use in Australian society.
As our Director, you will be based at NDRI’s head office at Curtin University in Perth; however, this role includes management of its office in Melbourne and includes a keen focus on its role as a national institute.
We are looking for someone with:
- A Doctorate in an appropriate discipline (applicants without a Doctorate but with evidence of high-level leadership will also be considered)
- Strong research expertise in AOD-related research
- Excellent track record of academic metrics and research translation in AOD or related fields
- Demonstrated high-level policy and/or practice leadership in AOD
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage with policy makers, practitioners, and communities
- Knowledge of the national and international landscape of AOD research and policy
- Ability to work collaboratively and strategically
