The Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute is a leading-edge, internationally recognised research, teaching and policy advice provider in sustainability with an innovative approach to its implementation through demonstrations and partnerships with businesses, government, and the community. Our institute, CUSP, is a major contributor to the academic life of Curtin and to the broader community with its emphasis on practitioner-oriented policy research.

Your new role

We are seeking an inspiring, strategic, people-focused Director to lead the Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute. As the Director, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the CUSP’s programs, identifying research funding opportunities, and ensuring the efficient and strategic use of resources while complying with University policies and procedures.

In this role, you will…

  • Lead the development and execution of research programs that align with the strategic research objectives of the Institute, the School, Faculty, and University.
  • Identify research funding opportunities and develop strategies to grow research income for the Institute.
  • Empower, coach, manage, and mentor staff while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Represent the University externally, championing community wealth creation and policy development by promoting research and teaching activities.
  • Build and maintain truthful partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including other universities, industry and government entities, and related associations and professional bodies, that contribute to the recognition of the Institute.
We are looking for someone with….
  • A doctoral qualification or equivalent in a related field.
  • Proven experience in academic leadership and management in a higher education or research environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding opportunities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering gender equity in the workplace.
