The Australian manufacturing sector is more important to Australia now than it has been for the last several decades. There is a critical need to support companies in areas of high value-add advanced manufacturing which will contribute to national productivity, economic growth and societal wellbeing.

CSIRO plays an important role in helping to catalyse the transition of the Australian manufacturing industry to a high-tech, high value business. This includes the creation of new industries and businesses, by supporting manufacturers to grow, scale-up, commercialise and adopt technology and become more agile, resilient and competitive.

CSIRO is seeking an experienced, senior digital manufacturing leader with in-depth industry experience to spearhead CSIRO’s research and innovation in this area. Digital technologies are a key enabler of advanced manufacturing. These technologies include AI, automation, robotics, Internet of Things, data analytics, Industry 4.0 /5.0 and cybersecurity.

The Digital Manufacturing Lead will take organisation-wide responsibility for defining and implementing CSIRO’s strategy in digital manufacturing. The successful candidate will drive research and innovation across CSIRO, position CSIRO as a leader in the national and international ecosystems, build strong and effective relationships with external stakeholders, and be a thought leader nationally and globally. In particular, the role-holder will build a successful program of work in digital manufacturing at CSIRO by securing significant external revenue streams, leading to national and international science impact.

Location:     Any CSIRO Capital City Site

Salary:          Attractive Salary Package + 15.4% super (based on experience & negotiable for the right candidate)
Tenure      Specified Term of 3 years, full-time
