The University of Sydney announces $1 billion philanthropic achievement - The University of Sydney and this is a particularly exciting time for you to join the Advancement team as it embarks on its next big philanthropic campaign and enters a significant growth phase.  


 


The most unexpected conversations will lead to great things. Your work could lead to a student being given the opportunity to study at the oldest university in Australia thanks to a donation towards scholarship support or assist engineers to create robotic platforms designed to make agriculture more productive and sustainable. Your work will not only have a huge impact but will also be considered one of the best things the donor and you, have ever achieved during your lifetime. 

 


As part of this program, you will:   


  • gain exposure to the depth and breadth of Advancement through comprehensive on-the-job rotational training including Development, Community Giving, Planned Giving, and Prospect Development 

  • learn best-practice fundraising fundamentals alongside an impressive team of advancement professionals, academics and researchers 

  • be guided by two mentors with extensive experience in philanthropy. 


 


About you 


  • a natural relationship builder - you enjoy interacting with people one-on-one and fostering relationships with people at different levels and from different cultures 

  • excellent communication skills, both listening and written in order to develop compelling proposals that align to a prospective donor's interests 

  • strategic in their vision and can plan months, sometimes even years in advance 

  • highly developed emotional intelligence - you are self-aware with exceptional interpersonal skills 

  • a high-achiever and naturally driven by success both professionally and personally 

  • legally entitled to work in Australia for more than two years (Australian or New Zealand Citizen, or an Australian Permanent Resident).

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident. 


 


Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
