The Opportunity

As a skilled DevOps Engineer within the Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN) you’ll play a key role in helping to build, support and maintain our cloud infrastructure, prioritising reliability, and security. In this role, you'll be responsible for embedding security measures seamlessly into our software development lifecycle and DevOps processes.

Implementing monitoring solutions will be a critical component of your responsibilities, as you continuously assess and enhance the security posture of our systems, staying vigilant against emerging threats. Collaboration will be central to your work, as you work closely with our cloud engineers, software developers, and data scientists to deliver secure and reliable data-driven web applications and services, contributing to the advancement of marine science.

What’s Required

Highly skilled in DevOps methodologies, tools and practices including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code will enable you to effectively contribute to a collaborative team environment.  Your knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including secure coding practices, threat modeling and compliance standards will be highly regarded. Your technical expertise in system administration, networking, and scripting will play a vital role in automating security processes and integrating security checks into our workflows. Demonstrated knowledge of cloud security concepts and IAM solutions will be essential in ensuring the integrity of our cloud infrastructure. Strong problem-solving abilities, coupled with effective communication and collaboration skills are indispensable for your navigation of cross-functional teams that operate within an Agile framework.  You will maintain suitable documentation and stay abreast of emerging technologies and cybersecurity trends.
