About the Enterprise Partnerships Unit

As ‘Australia’s University of Enterprise’, industry-engaged research is a cornerstone of our purpose at the University of South Australia and the University will take a partnered approach to research and enterprise through the establishment of a UniSA Enterprise Hub™ to be operated and supported by a newly formed Enterprise Partnerships Unit.

The Enterprise Partnerships Unit will bring together the functions and activities of business development, partnership with industries, community groups and Aboriginal corporations; business incubation; research translation and commercialisation. It acknowledges our research capabilities and takes these to partnerships via a sector-based approach and services that are articulated in ways that are accessible to business and community. It also provides unified and clear points of support and contact for our research community at UniSA.

About the Role

The Deputy Director: Business Development is a new and pivotal role, responsible for the leadership of UniSA’s industry-based business development activities. Through your strategic and focused leadership, you will create industry strategy to strengthen UniSA’s position as an internationally renowned higher education partner and manage the Business Development team in order to achieve the strategy.

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative leader with a proven track record of achievement in generating new business and managing strategic relationships, whilst exceeding KPI’s for partner and industry engagement. Outstanding coaching and people management skills are essential, as is the ability to work with national and international partners.

To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in business development with a track record of achieving agreed targets
  • Successful track record of establishing partnerships with industry and developing strategic partnerships between industry and professions, preferably but not essentially with academia
  • Experience in the development of new markets in multiple sectors through the development of innovative approaches to market, business and product development
  • Leadership and people management skills to mentor and motivate staff, ensuring end-user-focused approach to the delivery of services
