An exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral research fellow to join a team of leading scholars working across a diverse range of communications, creative arts, social sciences, humanities and education disciplines within Faculty of Arts and Education.

  • Melbourne Burwood Campus or Geelong location, depending on alignment to existing groups.
  • Full-time, 2-year fixed team contract starting Feb 2022
  • Level B $99,346 + 17% Superannuation 

In this role you will undertake a two year fellowship aligned to the work of one of the Faculty  Faculty research Networks / Clusters included in attached position description.

We are looking to recruit early career researchers who demonstrate outstanding track records, whose areas of research focus align with the Faculty’s research priorities, reflected in our networks and clusters.

You will be expected to make an excellent contribution to the Faculty’s research programs by:

  • Undertaking your proposed research project within the Fellowship term.
  • Contributing as appropriate to other research in your Network or Cluster and wider Faculty
  • Growing your research track record of external research grants.
  • Appling for external research and innovation funding, including the ARC's DECRA scheme by 31st October 2022 and, if unsuccessful, submit subsequent applications by 31st October 2023;
  • Reporting against the above ‘Performance Expectations’ and external funding activity at 1 year (Progress Report) and 2 year (Final Report) intervals during their award (mandatory).
  • Developing relationships with researchers, community, industry and government for enhanced research outcomes.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Completed a PhD on or after 1 January 2018 and provide evidence of that. Alternatively, together with allowable career interruptions, have an award of PhD date that would be commensurate with a PhD Award Date of 1 January 2018.
  • Emerging reputation in education, humanities and social sciences research and scholarship as demonstrated by:
  • The number, quality and influence of publications or NTROs and the extent and nature of the candidate’s authorship or creative contributions
  • The number of external grants held and the candidate’s role (including investigator position) in those funded grants, fellowships on large grants and/or projects, research and development contracts (external and internal considered separately)
  • The number and standing of relevant competitive prizes and awards
  • The number and type of speaking invitations at national or international conferences
  • Research impact, including contributions to policy or practice and community engagement
  • The candidate’s contribution to and participation in peer review for grant schemes and/or journal publications or NTRO equivalent
  • Demonstrable capacity to undertake the proposed research
  • An emerging reputation as a research leader who has provided a substantial contribution to research excellence in their environment and research programs/and/or partnerships.
