About the Roles

UniSA STEM has a team of three Deans of Programs. Each Dean of Programs leads the academic quality, performance and reputation of a group of UniSA STEM’s programs and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

UniSA STEM’s Dean of Research works closely with the Director: Future Industries Institute (FII) to lead UniSA STEM’s research activity and research education program.

All Deans of Programs and the Dean of Research report to the Executive Dean: STEM, and are members of the STEM Executive team.

The Deans of Programs will work as a team to lead the academic quality, performance and reputation of UniSA STEM’s programs and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, delivered on-campus, online, mixed-mode and offshore. STEM delivers programs in Aviation, Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical), Environmental Science, Information Technology, Information Management, Mathematics and Data Science, Project Management and Science. Each Dean of Programs leads a team of Program Directors, and will liaise with Government, industry practitioners and accrediting bodies, to raise the profile and impact of the programs of UniSA STEM to meet the needs of current and future workforces, nationally and internationally.

The Dean of Research will work closely with the Director of the Future Industries Institute to lead the development and delivery of the strategy for high-quality research within the Academic Unit to implement the University’s research strategy. Areas of research strength within STEM include Applied Mathematics, AR/VR, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering (Civil, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical Power, Telecommunications), Environmental Science, Laser Physics and more. The Dean of Research will also maintain a strong record of personal research activity and academic achievements including collaboration and research leadership nationally and internationally.

The team of Deans in UniSA STEM work together to embed a strong teaching-research nexus in the Unit’s education programs and proactively contribute to the development of research capability through staff associated with the program portfolio.

We are seeking strategic and visionary leaders who will take accountability for the delivery of quality and excellence in all that they do, respond rapidly to emerging internal and external challenges; anticipating and interpreting uncertainty to provide direction for their teams.

To succeed in these roles in UniSA STEM you must be a high performing and proven team player, with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, who embraces diversity and inclusion in all of your interactions with staff and students.

Applicants for the Dean of Programs roles would have an excellent record of achievement in leading and delivering high quality, practice-informed teaching programs that achieve outstanding student satisfaction and graduate outcomes.

Applicants for the Dean of Research role would have an outstanding record of substantial and sustained achievement, collaboration and leadership in research, with a focus on industry connections and translation to real world outcomes, and a demonstrated strength in developing and leading interdisciplinary teams.
