We are seeking a Web and Database Developer to join our team in creating a web application and relational database that will be easily accessible to our 7 project sites. You will use your web development and database skills to craft a web application from the ground up that will allow researchers and others to collate data on a research project in osteoporosis. This research project will develop a new pharmacy-led service for patients that have had a minimal trauma fracture to ensure that the risk of falls from their medications is reduced. This is very important to prevent refractures, hospitalisation and death. Therefore, the development of a purpose-built database is crucial for the researchers to ensure they have the best chance of showing patient improvement from this service. The role requires SQL knowledge and the ability to work with researchers to understand their requirements and develop the application that they need in an agile fashion.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • design and implement a web application and associated database accessible through the cloud
  • maintain granular permissions to the database on who can view and modify information
  • work alongside researchers and academics to provide advice, and build a database to suit the schools needs
  • maintain and implement enhancements to the application
  • investigate and resolve defects and access issues
  • ensure data integrity in the database.

About you

To be successful in this role, you:

  • have software development experience in React or Laravel
  • have previous experience designing and implementing SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other) ideally with a background in health
  • have prior experience deploying applications into Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaboratively with Academics and other key stakeholders to build a database suitable for all needs
  • are able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

It is desirable if you have knowledge in the usage of SNOMED ontology and ATC medicine codes.
