About the Job

An excellent position has become available within Swinburne Research for a Data Quality Officer. We are looking for an analytical minded individual who is passionate about data and process improvement to join the Research Analytics Services Team.
Reporting to the Manager Research Analytics Services, as the Data Quality Officer you will work across Research Services, IT and the broader University to identify data quality issues, investigate issues identified by others, and to devise and implement solutions.

Working under broad direction, you will assist in formulating and driving the implementation of system and process improvements aimed at addressing the underlying quality of data captured in university research systems and remediate existing data where necessary. You will be a natural collaborator and work proactively with stakeholders to prioritise issues and support improvements in processes, systems and data to implement data integrity and quality initiatives. It is expected that remediation of existing data and improvements to prevent reoccurrence will take approximately three years to achieve.

Additional responsibilities include business process mapping, system documentation, facilitating workshops and sessions with stakeholder groups and actively engaging stakeholders to champion data quality initiatives.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• A relevant qualification in information systems, data science or a computational discipline and/or demonstrated relevant experience, education or training.
• Demonstrated experience in data quality principles and practices, including validation, testing, cleaning, profiling and auditing of data.
• Advanced skills in SQL, PHP and other relevant languages and systems and strong documentation skills including process mapping.
• Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills in relation to data and information systems, with the ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
