About This Opportunity 

The Information Management and Insights team within Advancement Services is responsible for the systems and information that drives the advancement business including system configuration and management, data analysis, reporting, predictive modelling, and identifying improvements to maximise business outcomes.

In this role, you will work as a member of the team to provide high-quality data, reports and analysis that drives successful alumni and philanthropic engagement for both advancement activities centrally and within faculties/institutes.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • As part of the Information management and insights team, co-ordinate and perform both ad hoc and scheduled data and reporting jobs, with the ability to self-manage, prioritise, negotiate and delegate as appropriate to manage a high workload, whilst maintaining strong customer and team relationships.
  • Use a variety of software tools including The Raiser’s Edge, Crystal, Power BI and VisualCron to create new reports and dashboards as required, building in user self-service and job automation as much as possible.
  • Create queries using the Raisers Edge query tools, SQL and other tools (e.g., KNIME, Power BI, Excel) to extract data and merge data sets with appropriate attention to verification, summarising and accurately interpreting and analysing data for clients
  • Provide good actionable intelligence and analytics for incremental lift in alumni engagement, donor retention, gifts, and prospect targeting.
  • Conduct appropriate checks and tests and to ensure all information provided has an appropriate level of accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Proactively review and improve BAU tasks, by identifying, and implementing automation and self-service opportunities, including appropriate documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure the provision of data complies with policy and procedures with respect to in-house approval channels, secure data transfer and data use and privacy in accordance with UQ and Advancement policies and procedures and both Australian and international information provision protocols (Information Privacy Act, SPAM Act, GDPR) and proactively raise any issues with the Senior Manager, Information Management and Insights
  • Provide support as required for the new CRM transition as part of the CX program

This role is subject to The University’s Code of Conduct .  

This is a full-time (1FTE) continuing position at HEW 6

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099.39 - $94,512.08, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076.28 - $110,579.13 annually.  As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.


About You  

  • A degree in Information Technology, Statistics, Computer Science or a related area with subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant technical experience and or education / training.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, and proven ability to develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with a range of clients and internal stakeholders in a complex organisational environment.
  • Self-motivated, work independently and demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines in a multi-faceted team.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and reporting by applying knowledge of the business context.
  • Experience using a coding language (e.g., SQL, R, Python) to extract, manipulate and combine data.
  • Experience using various tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel) for creating reports and dashboards for data analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data structures and concepts via the ability to query, filter, manipulate and combine data and verify and accurately interpret results.
  • Experience working within higher education Advancement, or the not-for-profit sector is desirable
