Overview
ECU is seeking an experienced research academic for the role of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Course Coordinator. This important research leadership role will assist in the delivery, coordination and continuous improvements of HDR courses across the University. The role is a fractional appointment (0.5 FTE) and report directly to the Dean, Graduate Research and works closely with all stakeholders in the delivery of HDR programs, including Schools and Teaching Areas, Research Services, Centre for Teaching and Learning, Student Life, Admissions and others.

Applicants should have a proven track record in research leadership including extensive experience in HDR supervision and research training. Applicants are also required to have appropriate experience and understanding of academic governance and curriculum design.

The successful applicant should fulfil the following criteria:

  • A PhD in an appropriate field.
  • Excellent scholarly record in a relevant discipline and strong research track record in conducting research, including the successful supervision of timely HDR completions
  • Experience in the leadership and management of the design, development and delivery of HDR-related training and development to HDR students and supervisors
  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of the national and university-specific policies, codes of conduct, guidelines and standards that are relevant to the HDR context
  • Experience in curriculum development, course coordination and unit delivery to diverse student cohorts.
  • Demonstrated evidence of research-informed and/or contemporary teaching within a discipline or across disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge of the higher education sector including academic processes and legislation
  • Demonstrated capacity to build strategic networks and collaborative relationships
  • You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.

    Benefits & Remuneration
    This part time (0.5FTE), ongoing position attracts remuneration of $124,522 to $143,081 (pro-rata) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
