Counsellor (HEO 8)

• Part-time (0.4 FTE), continuing position based in the Student Engagement Unit - Counselling Service
• Commencement Salary: $101,110 pro rata per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Psychologist or Social Worker to take on a Counsellor role to provide brief intervention counselling to students via a range of mediums including face to face, group and online. Working collaboratively across the University, the Counsellor will contribute to policy development, provide workshops to students and train academic staff on topics related to improving student wellbeing.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide brief intervention personal counselling to students, sensitive to a wide range of educational, social and cultural backgrounds
• Provide face to face, telephone and online counselling to assist with personal issues which are impacting upon learning outcomes
• Provide workshops to students and training to academic staff
• Provide crisis counselling services to students
• Design and develop online resources and other means for flexible delivery of services
  

• Tertiary qualifications to meet eligibility requirements for full membership of either the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Significant experience as a counsellor, with a high level of competence in delivering services in a range of settings to individuals or groups
• Experience in online counselling, using appropriate technology to deliver effective services and support to students
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to working effectively in a range of settings including as part of a team that works flexibly and strategically with students and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Fluency in Mandarin, Hindi, Cantonese, or Vietnamese will be highly regarded
