About the Role 
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Counselling and Psychological Services portfolio which is accountable for all aspects of service delivery across the Counselling and Psychological Services portfolio within the Swinburne Health Service.

The Counselling Manager will provide high level clinical leadership in the delivery of counselling services within the Service. As Manager, you will work closely with other teams within the university to provide consultation, outreach, and support on matters of students’ mental wellbeing. This role includes strategy, business development while focusing on daily operations. The Counselling service is a high demand service offering short term individual and group counselling to students. The Counselling Manager will work in collaboration with the Associate Director of Swinburne Health Service and the Medical Practice Manager. 

This role, will aim to provide team leadership and operational oversight of student counselling services (including on-line and other telehealth services), with a focus on promoting student retention. This role consists of both counselling sessions and management tasks. 

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

•    Demonstrated leadership skills by managing the daily operations of the Counselling and Psychological Services(CAPS) (Hawthorn, Wantirna and Croydon Campuses)
•    Extensive experience working in a high demand service
•    Providing clinical guidance to members of the CAPS team (Mental Health Nurses and Social Workers)
•    Providing in-person, virtual and tele-health counselling to students from a wide range of backgrounds
•    Ability to be flexible and responsive to the changing demands of the counselling service
•    Providing professional supervision to mental health nurses and social workers
•    Managing complex and serious clinical issues and providing leadership and supervision in response to students who present with a high need or immediate support/intervention
•    Contributing to strategic and operational decision-making, policy, planning and regular reporting regarding counselling, wellbeing and mental health, that supports the student experience
•    Experience in managing staff performance and development
•    Maintain awareness of current and new legislation to ensure the service is complying with policy, reporting and legislative requirements associated with the various disciplines of Mental health nursing and social work

Qualifications
•    Qualification in Psychology, Social work or Mental Health Nursing with registration with an appropriate professional association
•    Extensive relevant experience providing professional counselling services and leading a high demand student centric service.
•    Board - approved supervisor training.
