About Student and Scholarly Services
Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

The Student Equity and Disability Services (SEDS) is in the Wellbeing Services portfolio, which includes the University’s Health Service, Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and the Chaplaincy service. SEDS under the authority of the Academic Registrar processes eligibility for Special consideration applications. SEDS is also responsible for providing educational adjustments for students with a disability or health condition, are carers of a person with a disability, are defence reservists or emergency volunteers or for cultural or religious observance which impact their ability to participate fully in their studies.

About the Role

You will get the chance to help students requiring Special consideration to participate equitably in their academic pursuits at the University of Melbourne.

A crucial element to this is the provision and coordination of processes and services, as all students are expected to be independent and active participants in their studies at University. Reporting to the Manager, Student Equity and Disability Services, the Coordinator ensures the consistent application of policy and practice guidelines, providing training and guidance to staff including the level of support to Faculty colleagues and staff engaged in Special consideration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the effective administration of the University’s processes for Special consideration
  • Overseeing a regular schedule of data reporting including data analysis, preparation of written reports, the early identification of students with complex needs, and actively review the high use applications and referral to Equity registration
  • Manage, mentor and develop junior team members
  • Overseeing the effective internal auditing of decision making in relation to Special consideration eligibility and preparing reports for business practice improvement
  • Contributing to workforce planning projections for required recruitment including peak workflows

About You
The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. You should have a high standard of both technical and soft skills, as the role will need organisation and analysis as well as empathy and emotional maturity. Working well under pressure in a high-volume environment, leading a professional administration team demonstrating best practice.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a clear focus on written and in-person communication skills and experience in complaint management.
  • Extensive experience in CRM systems and KPI metrics, including data collection, analysis of trends, and the preparation and delivery of a variety of reports and feedback for improvements in service provision.
  • Experience in recruiting, leading, and developing a team of staff in a dynamic high volume and time sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional stakeholder relationships with a diverse stakeholder group, sound organisational and task management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively and flexibly prioritise activities to meet business needs.
