The Capstone Program sees undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of IT collaborate in teams and work as IT professionals in an agile production environment.  Run on a continuous basis, final-year students design and develop solutions, such as apps, games, security strategies or software for projects sourced from internal academic or industry-based partners to provide students with an authentic learning opportunity to engage with external organisations and solve real-world problems and challenges faced by industry.

The Coordinator will use their deep understanding of project management, business analysis and problem solving to coordinate the activities of the School’s student product companies.

Knowledge of product management, agile development frameworks and methodologies is desirable, however a willingness to undertake training will also be considered. Having a keen understanding of current industry trends and practices in information technology in order to support students and academics to meet project and school objectives is valued.

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaise with students, academic supervisors and industry partners to assist and guide the generation of School Capstone “Company” product requirements each trimester. 
  • Coordinating support to Student Capstone Product Companies on product and specification activities related to their product roadmap. 
  • Oversee the planning, prioritisation, resource allocation and design and delivery for Student School Company products 
  • Develop and implement improved processes in the administration of the Industry Capstone Program, regularly liaising and negotiating with key stakeholders and communicating program activities.  
  • Coordinate and develop training plans for Academic Supervisors with limited experience in agile development 
  • Provide assistance, solve problems and support School staff in developing an authentic and professional work culture concerning School Company projects and their student teams. 
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of presentations for external industry partners 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Systems or Project Management or related discipline and  
  • Proven experience in either Business Analysis, Agile Methodology, User Interface Design for Desktop and Mobile applications or User Experience design  
  • An equivalent combination of education training and experience in developing education programs in a commercial or tertiary environment
