About the role

The Coordinator, Communications and Events will oversee and work closely with teams to support the communications and events requirements of the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement. This role will work to ensure effective and impactful communication and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and communities by leading and initiating activities.
The role is responsible for coordinating internal and external communications, marketing and liaison with internal and external groups on all communications, including the Deadly alumni initiative. The role will also coordinate the event activities of the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement and manage database requirements where needed.

About You 


To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum 


  • Evidence of community connectedness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and organisations. A highly developed understanding of the systemic barriers and challenges experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities specifically but not limited to Victoria.

  • Experience or training in a customer focused environment and the ability to develop rapport with staff, students and the community and deliver information to a diverse range of clients.

  • The ability to organise and prioritise tasks, to show initiative and judgement and work to deadlines.

  • The ability to work co-operatively and flexibly as a member of a team.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills as well as proven strong computer literacy

  • Experience and training in communications, and event management


Desirable:  A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent level of expertise.
