About the Role
As the Coordinator, Communications and Engagement, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of key Student Life initiatives, particularly Academic Advising, Peer Mentoring, and Melbourne Plus, the University’s co-curricular recognition program, through providing staff-facing communications. You'll work collaboratively, to plan, design and deliver program-wide coordinated communications strategies and campaigns to staff across the university designed to improve staff engagement with these programs. You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that staff and student communications are aligned for a holistic approach to the Advising, Mentoring, and Melbourne Plus initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing staff communications strategies and plans to support high levels of engagement with Academic Advising, Peer Mentoring, and Melbourne Plus. 
  • Working collaboratively across teams to support the promotion of key university-wide messages, sharing intelligent content with other stakeholders for use in local communications. 
  • Developing strategic communications plans that support operational enhancements and refinements in collaboration with stakeholders to sequence outputs and enable timely and effective implementation. 

Who we are looking for
We’re looking for people with extensive experience and skills in developing and implementing effective communication strategies to reach diverse audiences. You will have strong copy/content writing and editing skills that ensure clear, simple, and consistent messaging, including for the web or other online channels. You will be able to draw on your high-level organisational and time management skills, to prioritise workloads in order to ensure efficient delivery of tasks and work across teams.

You will also have:

  • A degree or post-graduate qualification with substantial relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Proven ability to use a range of communication channels, especially utilising digital media and technologies, to engage customers and stakeholders in innovative and challenging initiatives.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate to diverse staff, stakeholder, and client groups, both internally and externally to the University. 
  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving, including thinking creatively and working collaboratively with teams to solve business challenges and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
