The Coordinator, Committee Services will coordinate and support academic governance and committees, providing high quality committee documentation and facilitation of effective administration in accordance with required standards, committee business and policy review schedules.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Distil the core issues from complex academic governance documentation, including course and curriculum information, draw accurate conclusions and condense complex information and next steps into simple concise terms that others can understand
  • Promote technical solutions to modernise work practices and ensure alignment with Deakin’s strategic direction
  • Actively seek feedback from colleagues and stakeholders on things that are working well and areas for improvement for academic governance and committee processes
  • Build new and productive relationships with a diverse range of potential students, stakeholders or key and influential individuals across the University
  • Develop and implement practical, accessible solutions based on stakeholder needs
  • Strive for excellence and consult regularly with clients to clarify who requires the information, the purpose for which it is required, criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendation is required
  • Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support
  • Provide advice, support and guidance on academic governance and compliance
  • Act as a coach and work with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise in an administrative field; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Knowledge of governance practice and process in an education environment
