  • Commencement Salary: $887,955 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role 

The Control Systems Engineer will investigate, research and execute design and development work of control systems for Coiled tubing drilling exploration rigs and associated down hole equipment, research new equipment, materials and manufacturing technologies, and be part of the team providing engineering support for step change drilling technologies developed for the Mineral Exploration Cooperative Research Centre (MinEx CRC) engineering team.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Investigate, research, and execute complex and innovative designs, configuration, and implementation of control systems for exploration rigs and associated down hole equipment with a strong focus on safety, automation, and productivity
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to the operational and engineering teams, to support complex and innovative research in drilling modifications and improvements
  • Implement improvements to electric and control systems
  • Assist in the development, facilitation and in some cases hands-on delivery of high-end control systems engineering designs for rigs and auxiliary equipment based on safety, benchmarked testing, best practices, and new technologies
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach to design of systems, equipment, products and processes

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • A bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, control systems or related tertiary engineering qualifications with some relevant industry experience
  • Practical hands-on experience of three to five years in building electrical or control systems, professionally or privately
  • Experience with programming and capability to learn new programs quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that facilitate effective communication of results and recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Ability to work within a research-engineering environment, with various stakeholders, to achieve project milestones
