About Governance, Legal and Risk

Governance, Legal and Risk provide governance, legal, policy, compliance, insurance and risk management support to the University and its staff. The Governance, Legal and Risk team provides advice on university governance and decision-making processes and plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Flinders have policies in place to protect its people, assets, and activities.


About the Role

The Contracts Officer will be responsible for providing contract administration services to Flinders University; including preparation of standard contractual documentation and support for the University’s Colleges and Portfolios regarding all things contract management. You will provide responsive advice and education in relation to contract enquiries, policy and risk and compliance issues.

About You

As a Contracts Officer you will be diligent, efficient, and proactive to ensure the support you provide meets the requirements of the role. You will bring a collegial and collaborative work ethic to be able drive, contribute to, and meet the expectations of the division. You will have excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, as well as having a high-level attention to detail.

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:

  • Completion (or near completion) of a degree in law or demonstrated experience as a paralegal or ability to undertake contract management, including the drafting, negotiating, reviewing and administration of contracts and preparation of standard form and simple contracts.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of contemporary tender and procurement processes (desirable)

  • Experience in the Higher Education Sector (desirable)

  • An understanding of risk management principles (desirable)
