As we focus on new and exciting opportunities within the Contract Management Team, we are seeking additional Contract Managers to join us as part of the Innovation and Commercialisation Services (ICS) Branch of The University of Adelaide. ICS works across the University to identify, structure and close commercial and commercialisation opportunities, and to make working it easy for industry to work with the University.

The role of the Contract Management Team is to grow the University’s research income and to position the University of Adelaide as the ‘partner of choice’ for industry. Our mission is to provide seamless connections between client needs and the resources and the expertise of the University – empowering clients to achieve their goals; expanding the research and teaching base of the University; and adding to the wellbeing and vibrancy of society.

Working under limited direction, the Contract Manager is responsible for contracting across a range of contract types supported by the ICS team and for providing advice to internal stakeholders about a range of contracting and commercial matters related to research and consultancies.  They will foster strong relationships between internal clients and external organisations and will also play an important role in raising the level of commercial awareness and skills within the University research community.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial contracting and project management.
  • A demonstrated interest in supporting researchers to resolve problems to the benefit of industry and the community.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with University staff at all levels and representatives of external stakeholders including government and industry.
  • Well-developed analytical, conceptual, problem solving, lateral thinking and project management skills including the ability to understand complex concepts/technologies and convey them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Customer focussed mindset and the ability to build relationships for long term collaboration with demonstrated high level negotiation and engagement skills.
