About This Opportunity  

We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic and charismatic candidates to join the professional Customs House team for The UQ Brisbane City’s 308 Queen Street and 88 Creek Street venues. The Concierge will be the first point of contact for guests arriving at The University of Queensland’s Brisbane City. They will be pivotal in creating a genuine and welcoming first impression by providing exceptional customs service.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all guests and staff.

  • Provide helpful and accurate local knowledge to guests in an informative manner.

  • Assisting to book meeting rooms and provide basic catering.

  • Assistance in stocktaking and maintenance of par levels.

  • Maintenance of a procedure manual and updates.

  • Responsibility for staff and patron care

  • Maintenance of equipment and furniture, basic audio visual set up and operation.

  • Liaison with other UQ stakeholders in relation to upcoming events, problems, site inspections, general information for visitor

  • Ensure responsible service of alcohol is practised.

  • Security – locking of premises at end of the shift.

  • Assisting the Venue Manager and Operations Manager in the day to day activities of onsite catering.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position up to 3 years. At Food & Beverage Grade 4 Load Rate, the full-time equivalent base salary will be $61,722.81 plus super of up to 17%. The total package including superannuation will be $72,274.19 per annual.


About You  

  • Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role.

  • Recognised qualifications in hospitality and/or equivalent industry experience.

  • Current RSA.

  • Current First Aid Certificate (preferred).

  • Exceptional communicative and interpersonal skills.

  • A person with a wide array of local knowledge or the ability to learn and expand current knowledge in a timely manner.

  • Outstanding customer service skills and a personable, energetic demeanour.

  • Basic knowledge of audio visual equipment and its operation.

  • Demonstrated team player.

  • High standard of personal grooming.

  • Customer oriented focus.

  • Commitment to excellence of product and service.

  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
