About the Opportunity

 

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music's Open Academy is seeking a Community Program Officer to offer administrative assistance to children, students, musicians, music educators, and the wider community.

The Open Academy is dedicated to fostering community music involvement and presents various short courses aimed at equipping adults with the abilities and understanding to explore their musical passions, inquisitiveness, or seek a platform for their talents within a cooperative group learning setting. These courses cater to individuals ranging from novices to seasoned musicians.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the overall administrative support for the Open Academy, which includes tasks such as document preparation, creation of promotional materials, addressing intricate inquiries, investigating issues, and finding resolutions within the scope of the work area

  • Oversee record keeping, and finance/accounting support and reporting for the work area

  • Coordinating classes and events, providing production support for Open Academy courses and workshops

  • Provides promotional support for the Open Academy courses and workshops

  • Coordinating marketing processes using print, web, digital, and social media platforms, along with negotiating with external suppliers

  • Undertakes ad-hoc projects and other activities on behalf of Manager Open Academy

 

About You

  •  Possess a music-related tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in a community, performing arts, or adult education environment

  • Strong administrative support experience gained in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of inquiries and providing excellent customer service

  • High-level competency in and knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications such as those in the Microsoft Office suite

  • The ability to undertake duties outside regular hours and on weekends

  • Have an interest in the promotion of community music-making (desirable)
