  • Base Salary $95,860 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Charles Perkins Centre within the Division of Research is looking for a Communications Officer to join their passionate and supportive team!

As the Communications Officer, you will work closely with the Communications Manager to ensure the delivery of the Centre’s internal and external communications.

You will have the opportunity and play a key role in supporting the effective planning, production and continuous optimisation of communications content across the Charles Perkins Centre. 

Reporting to the Communications Manager, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work with the Communications Manager and the Charles Perkins Centre Administrative Services Unit to deliver internal and external communications that align with the Centre’s research strategy

  • edit copy written by others to ensure a publication, print or online, is of a standard that meets editorial requirements, strategic objectives and aligns with brand

  • write high-quality communications and tailor writing style for different audiences

  • create a range of digital communications and assets using the University’s existing website CMS, marketing automation software, and digital asset creation platform

  • assist in the maintenance and development of the Centre’s website and intranet pages

  • Undertake other duties as appropriate to the role and classification.

About you

Do you have experience in Communications? Are you someone who would love to work for a multidisciplinary research centre that is committed to improving global health? This is the role for you!

  • tertiary qualifications in Media, Marketing and Communications and/or relative experience is desirable

  • previous experience within a large multifaceted organisation and/or a research organisation

  • demonstrated ability to write for different audiences using correct tone and brand

  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with sound negotiation skills

  • ability to manage a diverse group of key stakeholders and build strong working relationships

  • demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • work experience in events is highly desirable but not essential.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
