  • Level 7, full-time appointment on an ongoing basis  
  • Base salary range: $92,679 - $102,830 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The UWA Public Policy Institute (UWA PPI) is an initiative which launched in 2018. The Institute aims to maximise the translation of the University’s research to policy impact in Western Australia, Australia, the Indian Ocean region and the Indo-Pacific. The goal of UWA PPI is strategically to position UWA as a go-to university for governments, corporates and NGOs in Western Australia, Australia, the Indian Ocean region and the Indo Pacific, as the countries in this region continue to grow in influence and in importance to WA and to Australia.

About the opportunity

As the appointee, you will, under limited direction, manage the communications and engagement strategy and operations of UWA Public Policy Institute (PPI). You will be responsible for ensuring that UWA PPI is able to deliver its program of events, communications and publications. You will work with the University’s Service Delivery Centres as needed in this role. You will also be responsible for implementing strategic goals and objectives, projects, and establishing and running activities to ensure the effectiveness of UWA PPI.

About you 

We are searching motivated individual who have a broad interest in public affairs and government with a demonstrated commitment to improving how research is used to inform better government policies. You will also have interest in developing and including new voices in policy discussions.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial and extensive experience in communications and engagement activities
  • A track-record of communication and engagement experience and success in meeting defined goals, and the proven ability to deploy a wide array of skills and competencies in pursuing agreed goals of an organisation or unit comparable to UWA PPI
  • Experience in developing high quality website content and preparing and delivering marketing collateral, social media content and media releases
  • Ability to develop and deploy policies, procedures and processes; coordinate projects; and deliver quality outcomes in a limited timeframe
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, drawing on a wide range of professional and creative insights

Note: A current "C" class driver's licence is a requirement for this position.
