  • Part-time (0.8FTE) to Full-time (1FTE), fixed term appointment until 31 December 2022
  • Salary range: Level 7 $90,862.00 – $100,814.00 p.a. (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team  

The WA Health Translation Network (WAHTN) is a collaboration of twenty-three Partner Organisations across WA’s health and medical research, academic and service delivery sectors to drive local, national and international collaborations, and to build capacity in key areas of health and medical research. WAHTN is accredited by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) as a Research Translation Centre and is a member of the Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA).

UWA acts as the Centre Agent on behalf of the Partner Organisations, and provides business support to the WAHTN.

About the opportunity  

As the appointee you will, under broad direction, be responsible for enhancing the public profile and reputation of WAHTN. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing a communications strategy, and deliver communications to highlight the impact and outcomes of WAHTN activities. You will liaise with WAHTN’s Executive team and Enabling Platform Heads to progress media and communications activity; prepare a range of communication and promotional materials; and actively manage WAHTN’s website and social media presence, including design, content, maintenance, monitoring and reporting.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communication or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience in communications and engagement activities 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing high quality website content and preparing and delivering marketing collateral, social media content and media releases 
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise and build rapport with a range of people at all levels
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills and ability to use a range of computer programs relevant to communications and marketing such as email marketing platforms; graphic design and photo/video editing software; and website Content Management Systems
  • Knowledge of, or strong interest in, health and medical research is desirable
  • Experience in media or government relations is desirable
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud software (particularly InDesign) is desirable
