  • HEW6 $82,494 + 17% Superannuation

The primary purpose of this Communication Officer role is to work as part of a high performing, fast-paced communications team, producing varied content and contributing to the development and implementation of strategic communication plans for all commencing students. The position is required to produce high quality written and visual content for a diverse range of topics, utilising multiple mediums to attract and engage a huge audience of Deakin students and staff. The position includes delivery of copywriting, designing, developing, editing and content management of promotional brochures and online content including websites, blogs, social media etc.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Written content for student communication across a variety of channels and mediums for a range of stakeholders
  • Conduct and write quality student and staff interviews, successfully telling student stories
  • Planning, development and management of a communication content plan including content for social media channels
  • Report writing and editing as needed ensuring a consistent approach to language, tone and content for key audiences
  • Production of content including images, photos, infographics, design and layouts as required
  • Delivery of email nurture campaigns for all commencing student cohorts
  • Support project teams with communication messaging, plans and implementation, ensuring unified project awareness
  • Any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of the position.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A tertiary degree with subsequent relevant work experience or a combination of extensive experience in communications, journalism and/or marketing
  • Strong and proven skills and experience in copywriting, designing, developing, editing and content management of promotional brochures and online content including websites, blogs, social media
  • Experience in graphic design and photo editing
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking multiple activities simultaneously to tight deadlines
  • Sound working knowledge of a range of digital channels and platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in working autonomously and collaboratively as part of a cross functional team
