  • Two full-time, ongoing appointments available  
  • Base salary range: Level 7 $ 92,679 – $102,830 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The UWA Office of Industry and Commercial Development (OICD) under the leadership of the Pro Vice Chancellor (industry and Commercial) leads the development of research relationships with industry and government partners that materially benefit the financial position and reputation of the University.

The division supports the University’s objectives in the identification and co-ordination of business development and commercialisation for the University across a diverse portfolio including agriculture, health and medicine, defence, space, oceans, data, energy and resources.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under broad direction and reporting directly to the Associate Director, play a significant role in supporting a portfolio of industry engagement and commercial development opportunities and projects from identification, initiation, implementation, and review to close.

You will establish relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and use project management and influencing skills to help ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner.

You will provide support and assistance to the team in opportunity identification, project planning, project delivery, proposal / presentation drafting and data analysis.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across UWA and the OICD to support the portfolio’s growth in research partnerships and commercialisation priorities.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate :

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Extensive business development skills and commercial acumen with the ability to identify research and commercial growth opportunities
  • Experience with business development within a research intensive university will be highly regarded but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience in research and analysis as well as the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Experience with contract administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills and the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and organisational skills to effectively plan, implement, and monitor multiple projects
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills such as word processing, presentation development, spreadsheets and databases, as well as use of the internet and email
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively in a team environment

Note: Occasional interstate travel may be required
