Salary package: $71,854 - $86,545 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full time, Fixed-term (up to 24 months)

The Position

The Collections Officer works closely with professional and academic stakeholders to improve the management of, and access to, the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES) Collections – which includes rocks, minerals, and fossils, and to ensure the collections are fit for purpose to be loaded into the EMu database. The Collections Officer is responsible for cataloguing, digitisation, repackaging, research, conservation, the development of Collection Management processes and documentation, and other tasks as they arise as part of the ANU-wide Collections Management project. This role is integral to facilitating research on these nationally and internationally significant collections and involves working closely with a broad range of researchers. 

The Person

We are seeking a motivated Collections Officer with experience cataloguing and digitising collections and providing support and advice on the best-practice management of research collections. Experience working with earth sciences collections would be advantageous but not essential. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues.

The Collections Officer will be a member of Research School of Earth Sciences  (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 ).
